Description

Be sure to keep your mouse over the last frame until you see the "To be continued" text!

Before this was started...
I've always wanted to make a comic, but drawing flat pages repeatedly always seemed so boring, along with of course...a stable story line. I always figured I should make a story line first, then start the comic.
Last Thursday I had the idea to start a flash-based comic and make it more lively and interesting for me to draw (so I don't get bored 8D), but the storyline got in the way again. Then on Sunday I wanted to see if I could even structure a comic in flash...since I'm pretty new at actionscript all together. So I uh...drew some random panels, spent HOURS setting up the coding, and this is the result.
My friends were over Saturday night and again Tuesday night, and they were helping me structure the plot for the comic. It was really interesting to see the story lines we came up with based on these random first panels. I didn't even plan to have text in this first one, but Alyssa came up with some nicefitting lines that also reflect the story. Then Shane came up with the name Eclipse. =}
But seriously, we debated for two hours last night on trying to make sense of the plot. It was CRAZY.

The comic:
OKAY enough boring talk. Each frame should have some simple animations in it, and be sure to keep your mouse over the last frame until you see the "To be continued" text.

The only thing that didn't turn out right was when the comic fades in. I used alpha for the fade in, but one of the panels look way off from the rest since I had that set to Tint and...well, long story short, that was a big mess. I set the fade in to tint on a greenish color that will be the background on the html page when the comic is up, so on deviantart it's going to look funky.
I haven't made the website page for this yet since I want to wait until I have at least 5 pages. That way I know I'll stick to this project and not waist a domain name.

Notes:
The text bubbles are supposed to disappear after a bit so you focus on the animation instead of the white bubble.
The next and prev buttons won't work on here, that's only set there for if I get this on a website. =} I think that's pretty much it.

What Next?
I haven't decided if I want to make this comic 13+ or...older...
The only bad stuff in this could possibly be blood and swear words. I don't like swear words myself and try to avoid them, but one character in this is...well, revolved around his dirty mouth. I mean really bad. xD So if any of these are ever marked for mature content, it's only because he's swearing so much.
You'll find out what's going on in this later. It'll make sense eventually.

Enjoy!

Perhaps, if you decide to continue this, it would be beneficial to have a small symbol pop up in the corner of the frame to notify the reader that that frame's animation is finished... Just an idea.

I like the idea behind the story, despite it being a bit ambiguous at this point. The title is spot on, I think. Tell Shane he got it right on the nose... Um, as far as the tone goes, I'm not altogether sure it's dramatic or comedic, but hopefully a bit of both... I think those are the best kinds of comics.

As far as the art goes, it's actually fairly simple and uncomplicated, which I like (I find that hard to do; my stuff looks kind of empty if it's not crowded with crap, lol). I think you've got a knack for this kind of thing, if you ever decided to go into this professionally, you'd make a fortune with it... but I guess it's a matter of motivation in the end.

For a first effort, hell, for any effort, it looks damn near professional quality. It's vibrant and the format is playful. Brilliant. Typical you. I hate you. You're TOO awesome.
