Summer!

Hey everyone! The first week of summer in Florida has been wonderfully gloomy and rainy. Oh boooy! I do love rainy days occasionally, but man!

For anyone following my tumblr, my SeaWorld and BuschGardens baby designs hit the stores earlier this year and it was so exciting to see them set up!

Some apps I worked on hit the itunes store recently, you can check out Ollie Goes. When the other one comes out in its full version, I'll advertise it as well.

So, yes, I've been a busy bee. Busiest year so far, I'd say, but it's exciting too. I also designed a watch for Sprout watches that should be out soon...hmm.

Sorry I don't get to update my journal as often as I'd like to, but my tumblr is always being updated with silly stuff.

Jolly olly good time

October is gooooone! I've had such a busy and amazing year.

I've been more active on Deviantart, which I'm very happy about, but I've been even more active on tumblr so if you guys are interested in following me, the link is here: Kuitsuku on Tumblr

An update on my sketchbook...looks like I won't be making my December date because none of my original sketch files were able to be saved. I have a good number of them saved as png images though, so I plan to retrace them and continue to get my Aywas sketchbook started. Skiddles' storybook is still on track for summer 2012 though!

Speaking of Skiddles, he has become quite an amazing pet. He cuddles Daniel and I every night, trots around and lays by our feet, and has been traveling in his crate a lot better when we take him to parks or petstores. He's also become super fluffy and soft...and no longer smells like a ferret.

I post a lot of pictures of him on my tumblr.

Let's see...work has been extremely fun lately, designing stuff for big clients and I actually got approved for a character design I didn't think would go through.

I can't elaborate more right now, but I'll take pictures if/once it gets into the park! Fingers crossed!
All my baby characters should be in SeaWorld/Busch Gardens around January/February too! I'll be taking tooooons of photos since it's taken a full year to be made. The entire program looks amazing though, regardless of all the loops we all had to jump through. Right now I know of the baby garments/hats, baby plates, and baby backpacks being made, but I'm not sure if they're making the plushie clips.
If I'm confusing you, it's just because I'm excited. xD Pictures will make everything clearer, in time.

Hard Drive FAIL and Livestream Today!

Just updating everyone here...my hard drive had a 'catastrophic failure' according to the place I took it into, and everything is lost. I've never had a hard drive issue in my life so I've never made a complete backup of everything. And, well, it's all gone. They said it would cost $900 to send it away to a clean room and try to get the data.
My websites are backed up of course, but I lost all my vector files and photos.
My brother is a computer tech and he has saved hard drive information by freezing it in the past, so he's going to attempt to do it to mine next weekend. For now...I won't have a computer until Tuesday and even then I won't have any of my drawing programs installed until next weekend.
I've already done all my hyperventilation and crying over the matter, now I'm more determined to fill up a new computer with thousands of new images.
I just think it's strange that the hard drive had such a huge failure while the computer was off for the night. They even asked me if I dropped it, which I've NEVER dropped my laptop. It's only a year old. Of course the warranty expired two months ago.

On that note, before the crash I had scheduled an Aywas livestream, and I still wanted to make it happen! Sooo I came into work today and I'll be streaming at 12pm EST for two hours. You'll be able to request Aywas character sketches for that amount of time, and I'll pretty much be your art slave.

Characters can be basic anything...pirates, ninjas, snails, whatevs. I love having lists of ideas from different people!

Happy Easter!

Hey everyone, happy Easter! And if you don't celebrate it, chocolate will be 50% off tomorrow.

I came home to my mom's house for the weekend, it's so nice and relaxing. She just got a small freshwater fish tank and yesterday we went out to get a saltwater tank, so we're addicted to watching all the activity in them.

Also, I got the coolest swallowtail caterpillar ever. Anyone who watches me on facebook saw some pictures of him, he's so friggin awesome. My boss thought I was weird for getting so excited about a caterpillar, but when I brought him into work he was really impressed as well.

Last night I had a dream I was sitting in a classroom reading a book by one of my favorite artists/friend online. I was so impressed that she had a book full of simple (yet very entertaining) sketches that I wanted to make my own, but I didn't want to copy her idea of course.
But then...I woke up and realized she didn't actually have a book. D: So now...I kind of really want to illustrate a book. I'm not sure what it would be about (why I made the recent poll), but that would be an awesome way of learning a lot of new techniques and the whole process.

Other than the dream, life is still swell. My lease is up in August so I'm wondering if I should move closer to my current job, or take a chance in California (though I'd rather have a job offer before moving, seems more logical) or try for Digital Domain. Choices, choices.

Bejeepers

I need to...desaturate or contrast the colors of this journal more I think. It looks good on my PC but terrible on a Mac. Fffffff

The last two weeks have been terribly busy and stressful. I pinched a nerve in my back 6 weeks ago and it just recently got better, work has been SOOO busy (Disney threw us in a loop for designs and deadlines), then my car was having problems so I took it in repeatedly to get fixed, THEN it was broken into and my GPS stolen, and then I had the first allergic reaction in my life...which I still don't know what it was from, just that I broke out in hives for two weeks. I'm still trying to think of what it could possibly be...I got a new rug a few weeks ago...and I did roll around on it when I put it in my living room (lol). I was so happy to have something over the disgusting carpet, cause I hate carpets in apartments. You neeeever know what people have spilled/done on them. For example, I spilled milk the first day in that apartment. 8)

I'm all better now, car hasn't been messed with since, work is at a good pace and I've been going to the gym everyday so my back is getting stronger.

I also managed to make it out to meet Vani for dinner a few days ago. She's really a cool gal, we talked about art and pokemon and the internets. 8D My boyfriend had to drive me there since my car was being worked on, and afterwards he said his mind was numb from not understanding any of our conversation.

And finally, POKEMON BLACK. Or white. Way awesome, thumbs upppp. The pokemon are so adorable, though I hate hate hate their names. Zebstrika, a striped zebra. Pidove, pigeon dove. Tepig, ...the pig. What's going on here?

The weather is BEAUTIFUL in Florida right now. I can't believe how warm this winter/spring is for us. Usually I prefer it a bit cooler since I don't have AC in my car, but now I'm planning trips for the beach.

I would've gone today but I'm dog-sitting for my boss.

Heyyyy, I love you all! I've been locked out of my deviantart account for a few months, probably since...October? Or early November? Something like that. I'm not sure how, but my password changed and I couldn't retrieve it because the e-mail this account was set to was no longer functional. Funny thing is, this is the second time it's happened. I lost my eevee1 account that way too, heh...heh. Since it was the holiday season, it took Deviantart a little longer to get it resolved but I'm happy the balance is restored.

SO HERE'S WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING:

+ I'm now a full time character artist for a company called Entertainment Apparel. We design apparel and merchandise for major theme parks across north america, including all the huge parks in Orlando, FL.

I'm working on some Seaworld characters right now.
The current website for the company is out-dated and we're in the middle of redoing it, but the facebook site is updated every so often so you can get an idea:

+ There were some pretty upset people when Suta-Raito was down for a couple of weeks in December. I had been contacting my host about it, but both of us had the wrong e-mails for each other so when we finally got in contact everything was fixed. Still, I don't exactly appreciate rude notes about the site being down. Concerning notes I completely understand, but cursing at me over the matter is ridiculous. You're not paying for it. Patience.

Furthermore, I haven't forgotten about my websites. I just don't have the time to go on them anymore and update anything. Suta-Raito was my hobby growing up. I'd come home from school and draw a few Pokemon, hang out with people online and have fun. Now I have a full time job Monday through Friday, then Saturdays I work at Universal as a Henna artist a few times a month, and Sundays I usually spend time with my boyfriend or friends. It's not that I wouldn't enjoy drawing on the oekakis or updating suta-raito, but after staring at a computer screen for 8 hours a day it's not too thrilling to drive home and do it some more, hehe.
That said, there's no way I'm shutting down my sites anytime soon. I have money to support it, and that's always been the main issue in the past.

+ My commissioners have been way too patient, you're all amazing people. I'm completely willing to give refunds for anything still on the list if waiting a little more is just too much.

I'll be working on them since I have access to all the files again.

+ And finally, I'll probably be advertising for him in more ways, but...my boyfriend is a composer and he's currently looking for projects to work for. He'll be more than happy and willing to write music for student films, short films, and animations just to get his name around. He's crazy talented, you can listen to his music on his website:

Suta-Raito's: Escape

This is the first time in 3 days that I've been able to sit down actually, hehe. Graduation was amazing, and my mom got me a new laptop (well, first laptop I've ever had 8D) which is way more powerful than my desktop PC, and a new Intuos 4 which I haven't even opened yet because I'm stretched for time, yikes!
I was also able to hang out with some of my family and a whole lot of Nate's, so it was a lot of fun. I'm glad I can sit back and get back to work though.
I've got a huge list of errands to run next week along with a bunch of images to draw, then I'm going to a convention for animators in Ft. Lauderdale with Nate over the weekend, then...work, work, work...pack, pack, pack. :}

I'm graduating tomorrow!!

Or today I guess. In my time zone. AHHHH!
And I just found out I got straight A's, which puts my grade point average in the Magna Cum Laude.

The tassels for our major..are white.

So Nate and I are tying good-luck charms into them and we got rubber duckies to tape onto our caps. We looked for miniature drawing mannequins but the store we went to only had one, booo.
As for the future...S-R should be opening on Monday, I already have an awesome job to start me off in the industry, and I'm overwhelmed with excitement!

GRADUATION and more~

I'm done with all my classwork! AND A GRADUATE ON FRIDAY. I'm seriously excited, life is beginning!
New Journal colors that aren't so bright, and I organized things a bit better. Nothing too major.

I got HeartGold! 8D I sold my older GBA games and got HeartGold for $10, and my friend traded her DS for some concept drawings and a model. I'm pretty much her art slave BUT IT'S SO WORTH IT, I haven't played a pokemon game for years since I've been too broke to splurge on a DS. It's super fun ahahaha~ My boyfriend thinks I'm a huge nerd for playing it.

Starting Tuesday...I believe...I'll be back to getting commissions done since my last final is on Monday (just turning in my demo reel) and then my class is going to the Beach. Unfortunately I can't put my demo reel online until we find out if we've made it into a film festival, because the entry is disqualified if any of the scenes are online. And my demo reel has 3 scenes in it. /cry

What's up + facebookin it

The WORD

Well, our senior film is finally complete. It came out as expected for an undergraduate film...heh. But I'm proud of my parts and everything I did for the project. It won't be online anywhere for a while but I'll be making a demo reel with some of my animations in it so you might get a feel of the movie from that. (If you ever care to watch it...and if I post it hah)
Now that it's over, I'm finally able to sit down at night and draw. DRAW. Amazing!

Today my class went out to lunch and then saw How to Train Your Dragon. Better the second time, which I didn't expect...watching a movie twice doesn't effect me as much as the first time, but I almost cried when Hiccup first connects to Toothless and pets him. DAWWWWWW~

I want to change my Journal CSS to something a little more clean-cut. What color scheme should I go for?

Please note: Commissions go towards paying for my server to keep Suta-Raito and the Oekakis up and running. I pay $100 a month for my server and about $70 once a year for the domain names. It's quite expensive for a college student, that's why my commission costs have been raised.

What is an oekaki?
An oekaki is an online drawing board that's free to join. Just be sure to follow any rules that have been made. ^-^

Can I use your artwork in my forums?
I've specifically marked certain pictures that I allow to be used in forums. You may ONLY use those pictures. =} (They're pretty much all my original characters folder

How do you outline/color/blahblah your pictures?

Arr arr arr Chibis and DRAGONS

First:
CLASS IS CRAZY and we're rendering day and night and fixing errors and getting really bad colds, hah. So I got behind on my chibis but I'm catching up this week. I can't lag behind on the monthly server payment though so I'm opening 4 more slots to pay that off. They'll all be done within this month though, hopefully this weekend (the previous batch definitely by this weekend ;D ). Note for a slot!
I don't think we'll be posting our short online unfortunately. I can post my specific scenes but that's about it. :}
BUT I'M GRADUATING IN A MONTH AHHHH! Exciting. Scary.

Second:
How to train your Dragon is such a beautiful film! I can't remember the last time I ran out of a movie wishing to go into a fantasy world. Dreamworks did a killer job. :}
We got a baby goat, I'll post pictures if I ever manage to get away from lab. Dang I'm hungry.

Third:
wth is a llama badge and why are all you mean people giving it to me. Llamas are terrifying creatures and you KNOW IT!!
